I wouldn’t normally think to put a tulle skirt with a peplum top. To be totally honest, I was a little afraid to pair this skirt with anything. After seeing countless cotton candy tulle skirts styled every way possible on Pinterest, I’ve always been tempted to take the plunge. However, my curvy figure always said “uh uh” (my figure can get quite sassy with me). So in my closet sat this skirt… until one day, when I was doing an Audrey Hepburn makeup look (on the blog tomorrow), inspiration came over me and I decided to pair it with a peplum top. I don’t really know where the idea came from… but Ms. Hepburn always makes me think of pink and femininity. I added my new studded heels (which are a knock off of Valentino, and give the outfit a little edge), and a clutch shaped like a perfume bottle… I think I was channeling Carrie Bradshaw a little with that one! I’m so happy with how the look turned out, and the black peplum made the tulle skirt a lot less intimidating for my curves.
I went a little online shoe shopping crazy at Charlotte Russe… I love everything, and it’s so affordable, so I didn’t break the bank… Here’s what I bought, and a little bit about my shopping experience with the website and the store.
When it comes to me and tablescapes, you may have noticed theme: Rustic Glamour. It’s my go-to look for holiday decor. It’s a way of making glamour seen a little more livable. I want my holiday decor to be elegant but touchable. So I set out to create a 4th of July table that had the same feel as my Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter, St. Patrick’s Day, and Oscars tables. I scoured Pinterest and craft stores for some inspiration, but nothing I found had the elegant feel I wanted.. or it was way too expensive. So after a few trip to Michaels, and a few searches through my tablescape accessory collection (which is becoming quite large… although not nearly as bad as my fashion accessory collection), I found the look I wanted… (more…)
I’m obsessed with the glamour of Old Hollywood, but sometimes you want something a little more modern. Today’s Starlets favor a looser, more casual wave… a look I’ve dubbed, New Hollywood Waves. I wanted to incorporate more fashion into my posts, so I paired these New Hollywood Waves with a fun, casual outfit. I’ve never been on board with the boyfriend jean trend (I like my clothes to have a little more shape thankyouverymuch), but when paired with hot pick pineapples and sexy strappy shoes, this outfit made me smile. I reached my goal of 300 YouTube Subscribers by the end of May… YAY! Thank you so much to all of you who made it happen! My new goal is 400 by the end of June… so if you haven’t already, be sure to Subscribe so we can be YouTube friends! I haven’t done a tag video in a while, so I thought I would do one so you can learn a little more about me.
I have never considered myself petite. I’m 5’6″, weighting in at none-of-your-business, and I wear a 34G bra for goodness stakes (don’t be jealous, they’re not as much fun as you’d think). But for some reason (probably just that God has a sense of humor) I have tiny feet and tiny hand and wrists. Shoes don’t tend to be a problem…. I have small feet for a woman my height, but they’re not freakishly small (size 6 1/2). However my hands and wrists are the size of a child’s. I’ve always had trouble with bracelets. Bangles just fall off my arm, and adjustable ones still slid off on the smallest setting. I’ve spent money on resizing watches, but who wants to do that for every bracelet. (more…)
I have a little history with Lana Del Rey…. well not her, but her fans. Last awards show season, E! Fashion Police tweeted a pic of Lana on a Red Carpet with a joke about her outfit. As a comedian and fashionista, I tweeted a tag to the joke (‘tag” is a technical comedy term, but it just means adding a little funny line after a joke). The truth is, I like Lana. I love her look, and her dress was not that bad… but I’m a comedian when I’m not beauty blogging, and I thought of a funny line, so I went for it. Apparently, Lana has some very devoted fans on Twitter, and I got a lot of hate tweets. I thought it was a little bit of an over reaction considering that what I said was not that insulting, but I wanted to make it up to Lana fans…. and show my admiration for her look… buy making a makeup tutorial. I’m using her actual favorite lip color… and it is my new favorite nude color!
Also, I’m trying something new with my editing and I’d love to know what you think. I just thought I would change it up from my usual talk-through.
Bloggers do it all (and we do it better.. *Snap* *Snap*). We’re producers, creators, writers, editors, models, photographers, social media experts… for those of us on YouTube, we’re also camera persons, directors, set designers, on camera talents… etc, etc… the list goes on forever! So after all that, the last thing most of us want to do is workout. But taking care of our bodies may be the most important part of our jobs. It keeps us healthy and more productive, as well as helping us fit into those cute outfits…. and who doesn’t want to spend less time in Photoshop making yourselves look thinner (don’t act like you’ve never done it).
