While sorting though my obscenely large makeup collection (I’m a beauty blogger… that’s how I justify it), I sometimes come across things that look similar or remind me of each other. There not necessarily dupes, but they are comparable. So after comparing the mothers’ of all contour palettes Anastasia Beverly Hills vs Kat Von D, I decided to put some other contour palettes to the test against each other.

This time I’m trying the Maybelline FaceStudio Master Contour, a new drugstore contour palette, and having it battle side by side with an classic palette, the Tarte Park Ave Princess. Here’s how it went down…

Note: the photo doesn’t do the Maybelline highlighter justice, it it stunning in person.
Do you have either of these palettes? Which one is your favorite?

I’ve been earning money while shopping online with Ebates:

I’ve never tried an actual contour palette, just shades! I might have to try one after reading this, though 🙂

Palettes can be great for travel, but I think sometimes individual shades can be better because you can get the best of each product… plus there are inevitably going to be shades in each palette that you won’t use or like.
So true! Economically you want to do palettes but then you might not use everything on it! I agonize over eyeshadow palettes all the time lol lol
The Tarte palette looks so pretty, though the Maybelline shades also look nice. Great video, need to swatch that Tarte blush you mentioned!

The highlighter is amazing 🙂
I love these comparison videos and posts! I don’t have either, but now I know I can just buy the Maybelline one.

Thanks Serein!! <3
I’ve always liked Maybelline for blushes and powders, so I’m glad they’ve been hopping on the palette train. That contour though, perhaps it could be remedied by going much much lighter with the amount on the brush to begin with? I’ve never thought about blending the way that you do, that is brilliant. Especially when i do photo shoots and i want a more natural look for the princess photos!
Have you done any eye shadow comparisons? I recently bought my first Sephora palette with a sparkly pink and a ton of different purples, I’m super happy with it. I don’t think that Ulta brand eyeshadow is very good in that unless i cake it on it doesn’t last very long. My biggest concern with eyeshadow is lasting on the skin for sure. Though that also got me into using eyelid primer, which I don’t know how I ever went without it now that it’s part of my daily routine!
I don’t have eye shadow comparisons yet, but I do have a review of all my palettes that I did over the holidays (or at least the ones I had at holiday time). I’m going to work on doing some comparisons. YES, I don’t know how I lived without shadow primers… I have a review of several of those coming up soon!
