Continuing my tradition of fashion designer inspired Holiday Tablescapes (see my Kate Spade Halloween, and my Valentino Thanksgiving), I needed big inspiration for a big holiday. After seeing this Chanel N°5 display at Macy’s I knew that the legendary brand was perfect for a legendary holiday like Christmas.
Here’s how I got the look for this Chanel Christmas in Paris Tablescape:
I wanted to focus on a vintage, Coco Chanel look. I used a burlap table runner and a tweed looking ribbon to evoke the feeling of a classic, timeless Chanel suit.
I found the tabletop dress form at Wayfair and added some pearl strands and a black bow with ribbon from Jo Ann Fabrics. For my Chanel perfume vase, I found a rectangular vase at Michael’s and made my own label. Instead of N°5 I used N°12 to symbolize the 12 days of Christmas.
Finding red roses was harder than I thought this time of year, but after trying several stores, I found them at my local Jo Ann fabrics, and I bought all they had left.
I found clear plastic Christmas tree ornaments at Jo Ann Fabrics, and cut out gold glitter Cs to make a Chanel symbol. I glued them on to be sure they stayed put. The shape of these ornaments remind me of perfume bottles!
I filled tall vases with pearl Christmas balls from Michael’s, and scattered a few more over the table. After all, it’s a Chanel table, you can’t have too many pearls.
The Eiffel Tower is actually a jewelry holder I stumbled upon at Michaels, and I had a coupon so I got it half price! I added some fairy lights that I had from my Summer Nights tablescape. Actually, my boyfriend, PET, came up with the idea of adding the lights. Who says men can’t be useful when decorating.
I finished the look with some pine garland from last years Christmas table.
As much as this is a tribute to Christmas and Chanel, I also feel like this is a tribute to how beautiful, strong and resilient Paris is. After all they’ve been through, they deserve some Holiday Cheer!
