Chanel Christmas in Paris Tablescape

Continuing my tradition of fashion designer inspired Holiday Tablescapes (see my Kate Spade Halloween, and my Valentino Thanksgiving), I needed big inspiration for a big holiday.  After seeing this Chanel N°5 display at Macy’s I knew that the legendary brand was perfect for a legendary holiday like Christmas.

Here’s how I got the look for this Chanel Christmas in Paris Tablescape:

I wanted to focus on a vintage, Coco Chanel look.  I used a burlap table runner and a tweed looking ribbon to evoke the feeling of a classic, timeless Chanel suit.

I found the tabletop dress form at Wayfair and added some pearl strands and a black bow with ribbon from Jo Ann Fabrics.  For my Chanel perfume vase, I found a rectangular vase at Michael’s and made my own label.  Instead of N°5 I used N°12 to symbolize the 12 days of Christmas.

Finding red roses was harder than I thought this time of year, but after trying several stores, I found them at my local Jo Ann fabrics, and I bought all they had left.

I found clear plastic Christmas tree ornaments at Jo Ann Fabrics, and cut out gold glitter Cs to make a Chanel symbol.  I glued them on to be sure they stayed put.  The shape of these ornaments remind me of perfume bottles!

I filled tall vases with pearl Christmas balls from Michael’s, and scattered a few more over the table.  After all, it’s a Chanel table, you can’t have too many pearls.

The Eiffel Tower is actually a jewelry holder I stumbled upon at Michaels, and I had a coupon so I got it half price!  I added some fairy lights that I had from my Summer Nights tablescape.  Actually, my boyfriend, PET, came up with the idea of adding the lights.  Who says men can’t be useful when decorating.

I finished the look with some pine garland from last years Christmas table.

As much as this is a tribute to Christmas and Chanel, I also feel like this is a tribute to how beautiful, strong and resilient Paris is.  After all they’ve been through, they deserve some Holiday Cheer!

Have you started your Christmas decorating yet?

Valentino Inspired Thanksgiving Tablescape

Valentino Inspired Thanksgiving Tablescape - EverydayStarlet.com @SarahBlodgett

Thanksgiving seems like an overlooked holiday these days.  Stores put out Halloween candy and decorations in August, and the second Nov 1st arrives it’s on to Christmas stuff.  It’s such a shame because Thanksgiving is a holiday that can be enjoyed by all…. who doesn’t like a day dedicated to overeating…um…I mean giving thanks..wink, wink.

So the day after Halloween, I jumped head first into decorating for Thanksgiving.

After I designed my Kate Spade Halloween Table, I decided to do a different fashion designer themed table for each Holiday.  When I saw these studded pumpkins at Jo-Ann Fabric I just knew that Thanksgiving would be inspired by Valentino.

The studs on the pumpkins remind me of the famous Valentino Rockstud Pump.  I had to include some bows in honor of the infamous Valentino Couture Bow Pump, and some red (although this is burgundy to avoid it looking too Christmasy) in honor of Valentino’s legendary red carpet dresses.  A Pinterest search of Valentino’s fashion lead me to dresses with a sheer embroidery detail (this one especially inspired me).  I tried to emulate that on a budget with some inexpensive tulle fabric from Jo-Ann Fabric as a runner, and some leaves I clipped off a glitter poinsettia from Michaels.

The only thing that cost a little more were these pedestals from Jo-Ann Fabric, but they are so worth it, and I’m sure I’ll be using them again.

All in all, a budget Thanksgiving table that’s a fitting tribute to a legendary high end designer!

Kate Spade Halloween Tablescape & Fall Weekend Vlog

Kate Spade inspired Halloween Tablescape - EverydayStarlet.com @SarahBlodgett

Since I started Everyday Starlet, I’ve kinda taken over decorating my Mom’s dining room table.  We never eat at this table, but it really is the centerpiece of the house, so we like to have it styled for the current season or holiday.  I was trying to come up with a new idea for Halloween.  My Mom spotted white pumpkins with gold dots at Jo Anne Fabric one day.  That started my brain whirling into a Kate Spade frenzy.  Alas, I didn’t go back and pick up the pumpkins in time and they were sold out everywhere.  I still decided to keep going forward with the Kate Spade theme.  Ms. Spade is known for fun patterns and general whimsy, and Halloween should be whimsical… so it just made sense.  After several trips to Jo Anne Fabric and Michaels, I created my table.  I made the sign, using a spin on Kate Spade’s famous quote “Eat Cake For Breakfast”… because candy just felt right for Halloween.

Summer Nights Tablescape

Summer Nights Tablescape, Rustic Glamour Pinterest, Michaels Decorating

There always seems to be a long break between holidays this time of year.  After the 4th of July, there isn’t really a decorating holiday until Halloween.  That leaves a few months to fill a table’s decor.  I decided to decorate my table for Summer… after the Winter we had in New England, Summer deserves a little celebration.  I already had a Rustic Glamour 4th of July theme going.  So instead of starting from scratch, I just switched out some of the colors and went with a Summer Night Tablescape theme.  Periwinkle hydrangeas ARE Summer in New England.  The burlap table runner with champagne colored glitter ribbon mimics sand sparkling under the moonlight.  The mason jars hold fairy lights… they make me think of catching fire flies in a jar.  Stars scattered over the table remind me of Summers at Cape Cod when I was a kid.  There always seemed be be more stars in the sky. I added some glitter starfish to give it a beachy feel.   (more…)

DIY Rustic Glamour 4th of July Tablescape

DIY Rustic Glamour 4th of July Tabelscape

When it comes to me and tablescapes, you may have noticed theme: Rustic Glamour.  It’s my go-to look for holiday decor.  It’s a way of making glamour seen a little more livable.  I want my holiday decor to be elegant but touchable.  So I set out to create a 4th of July table that had the same feel as my Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter, St. Patrick’s Day, and Oscars tables.  I scoured Pinterest and craft stores for some inspiration, but nothing I found had the elegant feel I wanted.. or it was way too expensive.  So after a few trip to Michaels, and a few searches through my tablescape accessory collection (which is becoming quite large… although not nearly as bad as my fashion accessory collection), I found the look I wanted… (more…)

Glamorous Easter Tablescape

Easter Table 3

Easter Sunday is this weekend, so I wanted to share with you my Pink & Gold Glamour Easter Tablescape….. You may recognize some of the accessories from my Valentine’s Table and my Oscar Table.  I added a few new editions to my tablescape collection, including my adorable cream and gold bunnies from Target and my gorgeous silvery/gold standing eggs from Pier One (I found them when I went there to pick up my new mirror for my bathroom makeover… I’ll be posting about that soon!)….. (more…)

Green & Gold St. Patrick’s Day Tablescape

St Patricks Day Collage

Here in New England, St. Patrick’s Day is like our Christmas (well if your Christmas involves a  lot of alcoholics.)  So I decided to do a Rustic Glamour Tablescape inspired by the luck of the Irish.  My inspiration was the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, so I used my gold sequin table runner from Easy, and placed it on top of my burlap table runner.  Then I used my round mirror from Michaels in the center.  I used mason jars from Michaels as vases for some white carnations (they always remind me of the St. Paddy’s Day parade) and some green filler flowers from the grocery store.  Then I found these adorable green pedestal dishes (also from Michaels).  I used them to hold my green tea cookies (recipe here).  I added some green ribbon from JoAnn Fabrics, as well as my JoAnn Fabrics gold mason jars (also see here & here), and my gold votives from Michaels (also seen here, here, & here).  The end result is fun and casual, but a little over the top… just like St. Patrick’s Day! Old Hollywood Glamour Oscars Tablescape

Oscars Academy Awards Party Tablescape

I received so much positive feedback from my Valentine’s Day Tablescape that I decided to do one for the Academy Awards.  The Oscars are my Superbowl, so I took to Pinterest for some ideas.  I knew I wanted to start with a black and white color scheme, and then I added some gold for some Old Hollywood Glamour.  I wanted a pop of color, so I was so excited to find red roses on sale for a steal after Valentine’s Day (I used 3 dozen, which were the same price as 3 roses the day before Valentine’s Day…. so if you love roses, now is the time to buy… I wonder if the same goes for diamonds…. maybe I’ll take a trip to the jewelry store… talk to me Harry Winston, tell me all about it) (more…)

Glamorous Pink and Gold Valentine’s Day Tablescape

VDay Table

I will admit that I’ve become a little obsessed with tablescapes.  I want to do one for every holiday…of course that can get expensive.  So I’m trying to “shop my own tabelscape” so to speak (it’s like shopping your own closet in case you did’t get that).  After a trip to Michaels for some inspiration… and and pink candle holders, which I’m obsessed with…. and a browse on Easy to find this rose gold sequined table runner….I used some of my Christmas tablescape decor, and created this pink and gold delight….. (more…)

Rustic Glamour Thanksgiving Tablescape

Rustic Glamour Thanksgving Tablescape

I wanted to design a Thanksgiving tablescape that was affordable, easy, and glamorous.  So I did what I always do when I need inspiration: I make a date with Pinterest.  After what seemed like hours of Pinning (probably because it was…. Pinterest is so distracting.  “Who cares that I’m not planning a wedding… I can on Pinterest”) I found inspiration.  I decided to go with a rustic glamour look because it felt very Fall, and it mixed a modern look with a vintage glamour… and that’s what ES is all about… (more…)
