My First Bridal Expo Review

My First Bridal Expo Review

I’ve always been curious about Bridal Expos.  I’d never experienced one and my curiosity has always been piqued.  So when I had the opportunity to go, I thought this would probably be my only chance to find out what they’re like.  To my surprise, my fiance, P, wanted to go with me and see what they were all about.

I think he quickly regretted that decision the minute we walked in the door.  Well, actually, the first think he saw was a vintage Rolls Royce, so that got him a little excited.

Soon after that though it was a sea of hard sell salespeople at booths grabbing you and asking rapid fire questions: “Do you have a venue?”, “Do you have a caterer?”, “Do you own a home?”… one guy kept trying to get me to sign up for a raffle for new home windows… I don’t own a home, and I don’t know what that has to do with wedding.

I went to sign up for a TJ Maxx/HomeGoods gift card.  P tried to disuade me.  “Don’t give them your contact information”, he warned.  “I shop there enough, I think they already know more about me than I know about myself,” I justified.

I was interested in the fashion shows, which I think ended up being less about wedding dresses and more about bridesmaid dresses… well, actually more like prom dresses that they try to pass off as bridesmaid dresses.  Either way, I’m not having bridesmaids, so it didn’t really help me much.

The highlight of the event was seeing the Fred Astaire Dance School do a performance.  I don’t know if I’ll convince P to take dance lessons, but I may have to try.

If you want to see all the action, be sure to check out my vlog…

All in all, I’m glad I gave in to curiosity and went to the expo… but I was so overwhelmed that I don’t think I learned as much as I was hoping.

Have you been to a Bridal Expo?  What was your experience?

How to: Fall Fashion Colors for Cool Skin Tones - EverydayStarlet.com @SarahBlodgett

Hello Starlets!  If this blog post was an episode of Friends it would be called: The One Where I Make Excuses For Not Posting This Week.

I usually hate it when bloggers apologize for not keeping a posting schedule, but I can relate to the guilt of feeling like you’re not keeping up with your blogging duties.  In the interest of full disclosure I wanted to share with you a few things that are going on this month that are making my blog posts and YouTube videos sporadic…..

First, I’m sure you’ve heard me mention that I’m getting married.  I try really hard to not be one of those people who can’t talk about anything else, however, it’s the most exciting thing that’s ever happened to me so it’s hard not to bring it up.  That said, my fiance and I have picked a venue (more details to come), and because of the venue’s schedule, our wedding date will be much sooner than we expected.  I’m sure we can pull it off (okay, not “sure” but hopeful), but it’s forced me to rush into planning mode, and I’m trying to cram 6 months worth of planning into this month so I can be on track with all the the suggested wedding timelines.  I’m hoping that when I get caught up and the big decisions are made, then I can focus on the fun details and be much more in my comfort zone.. that may just be wishful thinking, but I’m hopeful.

Second, in a mad rush to shed some holiday weight and get in shape for wedding dress shopping (poor planning on my part to do it after the holidays, but it’s now or never if I want a dress in time) I may have overdone my workouts.  This overexertion has resulted in a swollen foot.  I’m trying to rest my poor tootsie and hold off on my high heels for a while.  I didn’t think that would affect my blogging as much as it has.  Running around in cute outfits and setting up lights and camera equipment are just not practical right now.  Hopefully, I’ll be back on my feet (pun intended) soon so I can get back to bringing you the best content and fewer puns!

Third, I have actually been working a lot on some behind-the-scenes aspects of ES, and that takes up a lot of time.  I hate when it affects my posting schedule, but, as I’m sure most of you know, there is only so much time in a day.

I hope all of my loyal Starlets will bear with me… I promise to do my very best to keep giving you the best content I possibly can!

What’s Your Workout Style?

How to Stay Health Through the Holidays: Health, Food, & Fitness Tips

It’s always been my belief that when you look good, you feel good.  I don’t mean that you look good to other people, but that you look good to yourself (you’re the one that matters, right!?).

A huge part of looking and feeling good is exercise.  With such busy lives, it can be so easy to skip your workouts.   When I need a boost of motivation, I get myself a new fitness outfit.  If I have to sweat, I might as well look cute doing it.  Typically, I get so excited about wearing my new fashionable workout clothes, I can then translate that momentum into a workout.

It’s not a new idea.  Women have been stylin’ in workout wear from years.  That’s why I was so excited to see this video showing women’s workout style over the years.  It’s also fun to see they different types of workouts, and equipment that were popular in each decade!

Check out this video from Mode Media taking a look at 100 Years of Workout Style…

Now, I want to know… What’s Your Workout Style?

2015 Favorites: Makeup, Books, & Bling! - EverydayStarlet.com @SarahBlodgett

I don’t know about you, but I still can’t believe it’s 2016 already!  I’m still in that phase where I keep writing 2015 as the date and have to change it.  I discovered so many new beauty products last year, and I wanted to share my absolute favorites in makeup (and some reading and sparkle for good measure) with my Starlets…

Shop My 2015 Favorites…

Of course, my absolute favorite thing about 2015 was getting engaged!   This is such an exciting time for me, I can’t wait to see what’s in store for 2015… oops, I mean 2016… I did it again!

New Years Resolutions 2016

Navy Glam Makeup Look - EverydayStarlet.com @SarahBlodgett

Okay, so I’m a little late to the bandwagon with New Years Resolutions… most people have already broken theirs by now.  I’m actually not a fan of Resolutions… mainly because they tend to be hollow promises that people give up on in a week.  I AM a big fan of goals! Any occasion like a new year, a season change, or a birthday is a great excuse to look at your goals and reassess.

Here are some of my goals for 2016….

Keep a consistent posting schedule… I’ve been bad about this lately.  The holidays and life have really made if difficult to post consistently.  But I promise to get back to my 3-blog-posts-and-3-YouTube-videos-a-week schedule soon!

Grow my YouTube… I made it to my goal of 1k subscribers last year… here’s to 1k more!

Grow my mailing list…. if you haven’t joined my Everyday Starlet mailing list you definitely should!  You get every post right in your inbox… and an exclusive video just for subscribers!

Publish an EBook… I’m working on it now, and I can’t wait to share more details!

Plan my wedding… no biggie…just planning the most important day of my life… no stress there (in case it wasn’t clear, that was sarcasm)

Watch more Old Hollywood Movies for inspiration.

I’d love to know what you would like to see more of on Everyday Starlet.. I’m always open to suggestions!

Everyday Starlet is Engaged!

Everyday Starlet is Engaged - EverydayStarlet.com @SarahBlodgett

Hello Starlets!  If you haven’t seen on my social media and my YouTube channel, I’m engaged!  It is a very exciting time for me.  I finally found my leading man, and we’re planning our Hollywood ending… hopefully more comedy than drama. I’ve spent most of my life single, so at times I didn’t think marriage was in the cards for me, so I am very excited to share the experience with my Starlets.  Fear not, I won’t be making Everyday Starlet into an all wedding website.  I’ll be mixing wedding stuff in with regular content, but this is just such an amazing time for me, I couldn’t not share it with my favorite Starlets.  Here is my YouTube announcement…

I any of you have wedding advice for me, I’d love to hear it!

How To Apply Liquid Eye Liner for the Perfect Cat Eye - EverydayStarlet.com @SarahBlodgett

I wear liquid eye liner almost every time I wear makeup, so you may find this surprising but I used to be totally intimidated by it.  I practiced endlessly until I finally felt totally comfortable with it.  In the process I made a lot of mistakes and learned a lot.

Since I get so many compliments on my eye liner here on the blog, and on my YouTube and Instagram, I decided to create a video with of all of my cat eye tricks.  However, instead of sharing it like I usually do, I thought I would make this video just for my VIS’s (that’s Very Important Starlets).

In order to watch the video and learn all my secrets you just need to sign up for the Everyday Starlet mailing list.  When you sign up, you’ll get every new ES post in your inbox as well as exclusive access to tips for the perfect winged liner!  It’s so easy, and perfect for anyone who has been scared to try liquid eye liner, or for those who just want to step up their liner skills for the new year (I can’t think of a more glamorous New Years Resolution!)!  Just sign up below….
