Easter Baskets don’t have to be just for kids… so make yourself a glamorous Easter basket full of Starlet goodies (or send this list to your leading man as a hint). Here’s what to include…
There’s one thing Hollywood Legends have in common (besides money, of course) and that’s a signature look. True Glamour Icons think of themselves as a brand, and they rarely stray from that. Can you imagine Elizabeth Taylor without diamonds? Or Gwen Stefani without her cool girl chic look? Of course not… that’s because these Starlets found their “look.” If you are going to be an Everyday Starlet you need to find a signature look that suits you. Finding your style is a long process, and it may (and probably will) evolve over time. (more…)
We’ve already discussed how much Starlets love to entertain at home…. And great music is a big part of that. You definitely want to create a playlist when planning a get together. It can be music that goes with the theme of the event or just music that you love and think your guests will enjoy. Some things to consider:
•Start with lively music that gets people excited about the party
•Make sure the music isn’t too loud or distracting
•End your playlist with slower music to wind down the event and signal to guests that it’s time to go

Now one thing I love to do is cook…

…and I love to listen to music and relax in the kitchen when trying new recipes for entertaining or just for everyday meals (when I have time). For this, I have a playlist of Billie Holiday favorites. You could also listen to Amy Winehouse (our generation’s Billie Holiday)… or if you’re cooking Italian, a little Sinatra.
“If you’re the kind of girl who loses track of time, try creating a playlist that runs a certain amount of time so that you can notice when you should be getting out the door. I like to put a ridiculous song at the end of my playlist so it’s my obvious cue to hurry up!”
Here are some song ideas (new and old) to get you excited about getting ready to go out…
Also, when getting ready for a Burlesque performance, Dita listens to some Beastie Boys. She tweeted…
Sad to hear of the passing of Adam from The Beastie Boys, they’re prominent on my “gettin’ ready for a show” playlist. Rest in peace. — Dita Von Teese (@DitaVonTeese) May 4, 2012
Now sometimes a Starlet needs to relax in a warm bath. For this she tends to listen to classical. Usually music from the opera Carmen, the ballet Swan Lake, or a little Bach or Beethoven…

The Grammy Awards are this weekend, so this week is all about music. Starlets are the star of the movie of their life… and every movie needs a soundtrack.
Really any artist, English speaking or not, is great for a workout (Zumba anyone?)…. You can pick artists from the Latin boom of the 90s, or go with current artists. Prince Royce has some great slow Latin music, like one of my favorites, a cover of Stand By Me in English and Spanish, perfect for cool downs.

Anything by Beyoncé:
This girl-power Diva has some great high energy songs (you can even go back to her Destiny’s Child days)… and she has the Dita Von Teese seal of approval.

Daft Punk:
This has a 70s flare and a great tempo (also Dita approved)

Prince:
What can you say about the artist formally known as the “Artist Formally Known As”… he has some great workout songs and no other music will make you feel sexier.
Not all Everyday Starlets live in sunny California. Some, like me, live far from it. Here in New England we are having major snow storm… but for a true Starlet that just means an opportunity to break out the chic outerwear, and maybe play in the snow. Here are some Starlets at their snow bunny best…

And here is current Glamour Goddess Dita Von Teese in the snow…
You are officially a Starlet, which means your life is a movie. And your movie would be pretty boring if all you did was sit around and watch TV. Starlets always seek knowledge. Think of it as researching for your role in your life movie. While Starlets tend to choose hobbies that are fitness oriented so she can get a workout in while also having fun. A Starlet likes to exercise her mind as well. Here are some hobbies/classes Starlets enjoy:
Art Classes– like life drawing (Starlets love the human form), painting (she loves colors)
Literature courses– Starlet’s love learning about great writers and might also write poetry…. She most definitely keeps a journal, and plans to write her memoirs one day. Here are some Starlet reading ideas.
Acting classes– whether it’s Stanislavski or a local Improv class, this is the perfect way to add a little theatrics to your life and get you out of your shell.
Singing– think seductively draped over a piano not drunkenly shouting at karaoke.

Languages– Starlets dream of traveling to romantic places and speaking romance languages like French and Italian. Note: watching foreign films with subtitles count as a language lesson. Bonus it it’s a Brigitte Bardot film.
Musical Instruments– Starlets love to make beautiful music whether it is with a guitar, piano, or ukulele
Shopping– Starlets love fashion, and especially love to shop vintage. Nowadays, many Starlets shop online. Dita Von Teese loves Ebay.com… I’m partial to Etsy. I found this great vintage find on Etsy.com.
Going out to shows– Whether it’s to the ballet, or the theater, Starlets love a live performance
