DIY Rustic Glamour 4th of July Tablescape

DIY Rustic Glamour 4th of July Tabelscape

When it comes to me and tablescapes, you may have noticed theme: Rustic Glamour.  It’s my go-to look for holiday decor.  It’s a way of making glamour seen a little more livable.  I want my holiday decor to be elegant but touchable.  So I set out to create a 4th of July table that had the same feel as my Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter, St. Patrick’s Day, and Oscars tables.  I scoured Pinterest and craft stores for some inspiration, but nothing I found had the elegant feel I wanted.. or it was way too expensive.  So after a few trip to Michaels, and a few searches through my tablescape accessory collection (which is becoming quite large… although not nearly as bad as my fashion accessory collection), I found the look I wanted… (more…)

5 Ways to Make Your Bathroom More Glamorous

Bathroom Collage

Living at home with your parents can be a challenge.  One of the biggest things for me has been trying to feel like I have spaces that I can call my own.  I took over my parents “guest bath” (they really don’t have many guests) when I was a kid, but the style stayed decidedly my mothers.  So recently I decided my bathroom needed a makeover.  My mother was on board with me giving her guest bath a face lift, but she didn’t want to embark on major renovations.  So I kept the room basically the same, but used the light blue wall color (which I already loved) as inspiration, and added some silver, sparkly touches to make it feel more like a glamorous boudoir bathroom.  Here are some of the glamour bathroom essentials I discovered…. Spring Goals 2015

Spring Crocuses
These are from last year…. I SOOO wish they were here this year already!

While its officially Spring on the calendar, here in New England it just barely looks like it.  I have never wanted Spring more than I do this year (and if you live anywhere in the Northeast you know why).  Every season I try to set some goals for myself, no necessarily serious stuff, but some fun stuff that I really want to enjoy in the upcoming season.  I’m always amazed that when I put my goals in writing, so many more of them actually happen. So I encourage you to make a written list of your Spring goals…. here are mine….. (more…)

Christmas Tablescape: Rustic Glamour

Christmas Tablescape 2014 4

Red is such an easy go-to color for Christmas.  But red gets so much attention, not only on Christmas, but on Valentine’s Day, and the whole rest of the year.  So this year, I decided to create a holiday tablescape with no red at all.  I was originally going to focus on green, but as I was creating it, I realized that the green pine garland was enough… so I focused on gold metallic.  I started with a basic white table cloth, and a rustic table runner.  Then I ran some pine garland in the center, and added some gold mason jars from Jo Ann Fabrics, and some gold votives from Michaels (the votives were placed on top of mirrored star coasters for a real Starlet touch).  Then I draped some champagne colored glitter ribbon around the whole thing (this was inspired by a tablescape from Style Me Pretty at a Boston Blogger event).  The centerpiece was a little more difficult.  I tried so many combos before I found one that I loved.  I used a large glass (kinds looks like a brandy snifter), and I added champagne colored Christmas balls, some gold spray-painted pinecones, and some gold glitter leaves.  The extra gold pinecones, where scattered around the table…. Rustic Glamour Thanksgiving Tablescape

Rustic Glamour Thanksgving Tablescape

I wanted to design a Thanksgiving tablescape that was affordable, easy, and glamorous.  So I did what I always do when I need inspiration: I make a date with Pinterest.  After what seemed like hours of Pinning (probably because it was…. Pinterest is so distracting.  “Who cares that I’m not planning a wedding… I can on Pinterest”) I found inspiration.  I decided to go with a rustic glamour look because it felt very Fall, and it mixed a modern look with a vintage glamour… and that’s what ES is all about… (more…)

Boston Blogger Home for the Holidays Event w/ Wayfair

Boston Blogger Holiday Event

This past Saturday I attended a Boston Blogger event sponsored by Wayfair.  I learned so much that day (including that I am capable of getting to Boston by 9:30 in the morning… although I may need a week to recover from that).  It was my first blogger event and I really had no idea what to expect.  Kate and Alison of Boston Bloggers are such nice people, and the whole Wayfair team could not have been more gracious.  There were guest speakers, DIY tutorials, and SEO sessions.  I will be blogging a lot more about this event in the coming weeks leading up to the holidays, but I wanted to share with you some pictures from the event.  My intention was to take a bunch of Instagram pics, but unfortunately my phone died halfway though the event and my backup charger failed me as well.  Luckily I had my camera with me, and I did get a few instagram shots in the first part of the day.  I have to admit it was very cool to be in a place where people don’t look at you funny when you pull out a big camera and start snapping pictures… it’s actually expected.  So here are some highlights of the day….
