Christmas Tree Green Makeup Look

Christmas Tree Green Makeup Look - EverydayStarlet.com @SarahBlodgett

Christmas is usually all about red lipstick… and believe me, I love me some red lips!  But I wanted to switch up the traditional Christmas makeup look (like the Old Hollywood Glamour Look I did last week) and give green some attention.  So I created this Christmas Tree Green Makeup Look with a dramatic green smokey eye, glowing skin, and a pale nude/pink lip

Note: I filmed this makeup look and took the photos right before I was running off to do a comedy show and I realized right before I left the house that I completely forgot mascara… I think I was so distracted by how beautiful my Anastasia Beverly Hills Illuminator in So Hollywood was that I wasn’t paying attention… that’s my story and I’m sticking with it!

Chanel Christmas in Paris Tablescape

Chanel Christmas in Paris Tablescape - EverydayStarlet.com @SarahBlodgett

Continuing my tradition of fashion designer inspired Holiday Tablescapes (see my Kate Spade Halloween, and my Valentino Thanksgiving), I needed big inspiration for a big holiday.  After seeing this Chanel N°5 display at Macy’s I knew that the legendary brand was perfect for a legendary holiday like Christmas.

Here’s how I got the look for this Chanel Christmas in Paris Tablescape:

I wanted to focus on a vintage, Coco Chanel look.  I used a burlap table runner and a tweed looking ribbon to evoke the feeling of a classic, timeless Chanel suit.

I found the tabletop dress form at Wayfair and added some pearl strands and a black bow with ribbon from Jo Ann Fabrics.  For my Chanel perfume vase, I found a rectangular vase at Michael’s and made my own label.  Instead of N°5 I used N°12 to symbolize the 12 days of Christmas.

Finding red roses was harder than I thought this time of year, but after trying several stores, I found them at my local Jo Ann fabrics, and I bought all they had left.

I found clear plastic Christmas tree ornaments at Jo Ann Fabrics, and cut out gold glitter Cs to make a Chanel symbol.  I glued them on to be sure they stayed put.  The shape of these ornaments remind me of perfume bottles!

I filled tall vases with pearl Christmas balls from Michael’s, and scattered a few more over the table.  After all, it’s a Chanel table, you can’t have too many pearls.

The Eiffel Tower is actually a jewelry holder I stumbled upon at Michaels, and I had a coupon so I got it half price!  I added some fairy lights that I had from my Summer Nights tablescape.  Actually, my boyfriend, PET, came up with the idea of adding the lights.  Who says men can’t be useful when decorating.

I finished the look with some pine garland from last years Christmas table.

As much as this is a tribute to Christmas and Chanel, I also feel like this is a tribute to how beautiful, strong and resilient Paris is.  After all they’ve been through, they deserve some Holiday Cheer!

Have you started your Christmas decorating yet?

Old Hollywood Glamour Holiday Makeup Look

Old Hollywood Glamour Holiday Makeup Look - EverydayStarlet.com @SarahBlodgett

As much as I love Christmas, and as excited as I get for the most wonderful time of the year, I refuse to celebrate it before Thanksgiving.  Christmas music and made-for-tv holiday movies have been on repeat for months now.  However, now that it’s officially December, I am fully embracing holiday cheer.  This weekend I’ll probably start watching my favorite Christmas movies.  There are so many that I love, and a few I need to watch for the first time this year. My absolute favorite has to be White Christmas.   It’s the ultimate in Starlet Christmas Glamour.  What could be more fabulous than a movie about showgirls and crooners putting together a Christmas show in Vermont.  So in honor of this classic film, I decided to do an Old Hollywood Glamour inspired Holiday Makeup Look.  It’s perfect for Christmas parties, Holiday Events, and, if you’re an Everyday Starlet, any day of the week!

5 Ways to Make Christmas More Glamorous

Christmas Marilyn

The goal of Everyday Starlet is to encourage every one to live a more glamorous life… and holiday season is no exception!  Maybe you’re not jet setting away to a tropical island for Christmas like most of Hollywood, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do a little extra this time of year to make yourself feel like a Starlet.  There are some things you can do to make the holidays more glamorous…. How to Look Festive This Christmas Without Looking Tacky

Christmas Neutrals 6

With all of the bad Christmas sweater parties and kits, it seems as if looking tacky for Christmas is actually on-trend.  Personally, I prefer subtle touches of the Holidays in my outfits.  I devised a little cheat sheet for dressing festive but not tacky for Christmas…  think of it as Chic-mas…. Healthy Hot Chocolate Recipe

Healthy Easy Hot Chocolate recipe vegan Martha Stewart

This time of year practically screams for Hot Chocolate, especially here in New England. I have been trying to avoid dairy and limit my chocolate intake, so I was expecting to avoid the indulgence this year.  However, my cravings got the best of me, and I became determined to find a healthy version of this sinful winter drink.  I found so many options, but I did a variation on this Martha Stewart recipe.  If you like chocolate, but don’t like things overly sweet, this is the drink for you… and it’s super easy and can easily be made vegan….. Christmas Tablescape: Rustic Glamour

Christmas Tablescape 2014 4

Red is such an easy go-to color for Christmas.  But red gets so much attention, not only on Christmas, but on Valentine’s Day, and the whole rest of the year.  So this year, I decided to create a holiday tablescape with no red at all.  I was originally going to focus on green, but as I was creating it, I realized that the green pine garland was enough… so I focused on gold metallic.  I started with a basic white table cloth, and a rustic table runner.  Then I ran some pine garland in the center, and added some gold mason jars from Jo Ann Fabrics, and some gold votives from Michaels (the votives were placed on top of mirrored star coasters for a real Starlet touch).  Then I draped some champagne colored glitter ribbon around the whole thing (this was inspired by a tablescape from Style Me Pretty at a Boston Blogger event).  The centerpiece was a little more difficult.  I tried so many combos before I found one that I loved.  I used a large glass (kinds looks like a brandy snifter), and I added champagne colored Christmas balls, some gold spray-painted pinecones, and some gold glitter leaves.  The extra gold pinecones, where scattered around the table…. DIY 3D Christmas Cards

DIY 3d Christmas Holiday Cards

Truth be told, I don’t really send a lot of Christmas cards.  I have a few people in my life that I give a gift with a card, and a few friends who I mail cards to.  But overall, it just doesn’t seem like enough people to justify buying a pack of cards.  So a few years ago I started making my own cards.  I like to keep it simple because this time of the year is stressful enough.  I got the idea for these from a Boston Bloggers event I went too.  Kate from DomestiKated Life showed us how to make gift tags with stripes made from double sided tape and glitter.  I was playing around with the idea and I came up with this cute 3D card.  It’s so versatile, you can make them in any color with any size/material ribbon.  I chose green because I think it’s an underrated Holiday color.  Red gets center stage, and it has Valentines Day too.  I wanted to give green some attention.  Here’s how I made mine… (more…)

Holiday Playlist

Holiday Christmas Playlist

I have to admit, I have a real problem with listening to Christmas music before Thanksgiving.  I have always been someone who started planning the holiday season early, and I like to get my Christmas shopping done in advance…. but I just don’t like the Christmas explosion that goes on before I’ve even purchased a Thanksgiving turkey.  To be totally honest, I usually don’t listen to Christmas music before my birthday (which is this coming weekend).  However, I’m doing a Christmas play this year, and I need some Holiday spirit.  So I decided, now that Thanksgiving is over, I would make myself a Christmas playlist for my long car rides to play rehearsal, and the occasional shopping trips (although I do most of my shopping online because crowds make me angry and very un-Christmas Spirit-y).  Here are a few favorites that get me in a Christmas-State-Of-Mind….
