Old Hollywood Glamour Oscars Tablescape

Oscars Academy Awards Party Tablescape

I received so much positive feedback from my Valentine’s Day Tablescape that I decided to do one for the Academy Awards.  The Oscars are my Superbowl, so I took to Pinterest for some ideas.  I knew I wanted to start with a black and white color scheme, and then I added some gold for some Old Hollywood Glamour.  I wanted a pop of color, so I was so excited to find red roses on sale for a steal after Valentine’s Day (I used 3 dozen, which were the same price as 3 roses the day before Valentine’s Day…. so if you love roses, now is the time to buy… I wonder if the same goes for diamonds…. maybe I’ll take a trip to the jewelry store… talk to me Harry Winston, tell me all about it) (more…)

Red Carpet Popcorn for the Oscars

Red Carpet viewing oscar academy awards party popcorn

If you’re a girly girl and/or fashionista then the Academy Awards are like your Superbowl.  Personally, I watch the E! red carpet pre-show all day.  I rarely see any of the nominated films, but… oh the fashion… that is my weakness.  So I set out to create a glamorous snack that is worthy of a red carpet pre-show viewing.  Of course, movies and popcorn go together like Brangelina.  So I set out to make ordinary popcorn feel more luxurious.  Enter the addition of truffle oil, truffle salt (can you tell like like truffles), rosemary, and pancetta. Glamorous Pink and Gold Valentine’s Day Tablescape

VDay Table

I will admit that I’ve become a little obsessed with tablescapes.  I want to do one for every holiday…of course that can get expensive.  So I’m trying to “shop my own tabelscape” so to speak (it’s like shopping your own closet in case you did’t get that).  After a trip to Michaels for some inspiration… and and pink candle holders, which I’m obsessed with…. and a browse on Easy to find this rose gold sequined table runner….I used some of my Christmas tablescape decor, and created this pink and gold delight….. The Ultimate Sexy Dessert: Vegan Ice Cream Sundae

Vegan, Dairy free, Gluten free, sexy Valentine's Day Dessert

With Valentine’s Day approaching, I went on a quest to find the sexiest ingredients.  I searched books about seduction and internet sources and I came up with an ultimate sexy ingredient list: Bananas, Cinnamon, Vanilla, Honey, Figs, and Walnuts or Hazelnuts.  This got the wheels in my brain turning.  How could I take these ingredients and make the ultimate sexy dessert? Fashion Films to Watch During a Snowstorm

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas… but, unfortunately, it’s January.  You may or may not have heard that New England is getting hit with a major snowstorm (or as my Dad likes to call it “This is no big deal, I used to walk to school in more snow than this”).  This time of year, fashion can be the last thing on your mind.  But eventually the snow will disappear (maybe by August), and fashion will be back again.  So I thought I would compile a list of fashion industry themed films to get you inspired… since, if you’re in New England, movies and popcorn (or all that bread and milk you hoarded) are you’re only options in this weather….. How to Avoid Dairy to Get the Best Skin Of Your Life

Dairy Free Breakfast

If you knew how much I love cheese, then you’d know how it pains me to say this but I have to cut out dairy.  I have been trying to do this for a while now, but I’m not always successful.  I definitely eat less dairy than I used to, but I’ve noticed that my skin is much clearer when I avoid it completely.  I also notice that I get sick less, and my allergies tend to be less annoying.  So I decided to create a plan for how to cut it out of my diet without missing it too much… (more…)

Review: The First Fashion Police without Joan

Many of you may know that my favorite TV show (well, current one anyway) is Fashion Police.  I loved and idolized Joan Rivers, and while her comedy style was different than mine, I had a huge amount of respect for her.  So when they announced that Kathy Griffin was taking over her job as host of Fashion Police I was skeptical.  I was not a fan of Kathy Griffin for a long time, but I read her book, and, as a fellow comedian, gained a great deal of respect for her.  I will admit that her biting humor is similar in tone to Joan’s, but she is not a joke writer (and she would admit that), and she has little-to-no fashion background.  I was still willing to give the show a chance.  I watched the first episode with Kathy on Monday night… it was the Golden Globes red carpet episode.  I’ll start with what I didn’t like….
