When I first started hearing about the new YSL Touche Eclat Neutralizers, I knew I wanted to try them out. They come in three shades, including a purple to tone down yellow tones, and a green to tone down redness. However, the Bisque shade, an apricot/salmon/orange color that is meant to hide under eye dark circles, was the most appealing to me. So I decided to give it a go.

I really liked the way it applied, covered, and held up throughout the day. However, the name “neutralizer” got me thinking about my Maybelline Instant Age Rewind concealer in neutralizer. It’s a cult classic that had been my go-to secret for covering dark circles. I had to see how they compared.
So I did a side by side comparison, one on each eye, to see which one pasted the test. Here are the results….

March 29, 2016 at 11:19 am (7 years ago)This is great. I haven’t actually tried either of these. I have a cover fx foundation that it too fair so I use it as my undereye concealer but I need something softer and delicate for the eye area me thinks!

March 29, 2016 at 11:33 am (7 years ago)This is awesome! I have tried the Age Rewind concealers before, but like yourself, I just wasn’t in love with it. I have some seriously dark circles under my eye, and to cancel them out I use a light peachy blush stick to color correct. After, I go in with Revlon color stay concealer. I will have to pick up the Age Rewind Neutralizer next time I am at the drugstore though!

March 29, 2016 at 7:22 pm (7 years ago)I am a huge fan of the maybelline age reward dark circle concealer! LIKE gone through 3, which mean a lot in my world. Never thought of it as the dupe to the new YSL color correctors though. I actually think I prefer the maybelline one.

March 30, 2016 at 1:56 pm (7 years ago)I would want to take longevity/how long until it fades into consideration, which is why I’ve really loved this product for my circles: bit.ly/1PFWpx1
I also use it to conceal my pimples, after foundation and before my powder. I can’t tell you how much I love it.
When I tell my girlfriends about it, I describe it as, “use this, it’s like GLUE!” which some people might hate. I like something incredibly thick because I feel like it’ll stick around longer, then again you do run into issues sometimes with it sinking into the lines of your face IF you have deep creases OR it’s disgustingly hot outside. Sometimes I have used different products for the different temperatures because my skin reacts differently. But when you were talking about the YSL being thinner, that’s already a turn off for me.

March 31, 2016 at 10:59 am (7 years ago)I don’t have an much of a problem with longevity with any neutralizers I’ve tried, but I’m definitely going to try your recommendation. I was planning on placing an Ulta order today anyway 🙂

April 4, 2016 at 3:55 pm (7 years ago)I love this review of both the YSL and Maybelline concealer. I actually have a sample of the YSL that I have been meaning to try, but good to know that the dupe is a great option too.
