I don’t know about the rest of you, but this winter has kicked my skin’s butt (I know that doesn’t make sense, but you all know what I mean). My normally sensitive-but-oily-and-acne-prone-but-also-prove-to-redness skin has added dry to it’s list of issues due to cold temperatures and artificially heated rooms. So adding a face mask to my beauty routine seemed like a good (and luxurious) way of dealing with this problem. Here are some of my favorites that I’ve been trying… (more…)
I’ve always been a hand-on kinda girl… when it comes to makeup that is. I have a cosmetology and estheticians license with the State of Mass, and, while each State has different rules, in MA you need to have a license to even touch a client. That means that even shampoo girls in Mass must have a cosmetology license. People who work at cosmetic counters, and makeup artists do not technically need to be licensed, as long as they do not touch the customer. They must use tools, brushes, sponges, cotton swabs, etc, to apply makeup.
I guess I started using that thinking in my own makeup application. I figured… I’m licensed… I’ll just use my hands. For someone with as much makeup as me, I had surprisingly few makeup tools. But then I started watching makeup tutorials on YouTube for inspiration, and I saw all these cool new makeup tools. I decided to make one of my New Years Resolutions be to use more makeup tools.
I have a beauty blender and the mini version. I have also been collecting some makeup brushes. I’ve also found some ideas on one of my favorite YouTube channels Ready Set Glamour
Are there any makeup tools that you couldn’t live without? Are there any that you’ve been dying to try that you would like me to try out and do a review?
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas… but, unfortunately, it’s January. You may or may not have heard that New England is getting hit with a major snowstorm (or as my Dad likes to call it “This is no big deal, I used to walk to school in more snow than this”). This time of year, fashion can be the last thing on your mind. But eventually the snow will disappear (maybe by August), and fashion will be back again. So I thought I would compile a list of fashion industry themed films to get you inspired… since, if you’re in New England, movies and popcorn (or all that bread and milk you hoarded) are you’re only options in this weather….. Fashion magazines have been an obsession interest of mine since I was old enough to read. One of my favorites is InStyle. I get giddy when mine arrives in the mail. They have a section in the mag every so often called, Secrets of the Super Stylish. It’s basically a collage of questions for people in the style industry… models, designers, stylists, etc. I have wanted to do my own collage for a while now. Since I have finally mastered (that may be a strong word) PicMonkey, I decided to finally make my dream a reality…
You can also see my style collage on my new About page.
I will admit, I have been MIA from posting this week. I had some blog housekeeping that I have been meaning to do, and unfortunately, I can’t seem to do it all (despite my resemblance to a superhero… I think it’s Power Girl). (more…)
If you knew how much I love cheese, then you’d know how it pains me to say this but I have to cut out dairy. I have been trying to do this for a while now, but I’m not always successful. I definitely eat less dairy than I used to, but I’ve noticed that my skin is much clearer when I avoid it completely. I also notice that I get sick less, and my allergies tend to be less annoying. So I decided to create a plan for how to cut it out of my diet without missing it too much… (more…)
Brigitte Bardot has influenced so many style icons, especially in the 90s. Guess girls like Claudia Schiffer, and Supermodels like Kate Moss brought the 60s icon back into pop culture. So I thought I would share with you a modern take on the Bardot/90s look.
Many of you may know that my favorite TV show (well, current one anyway) is Fashion Police. I loved and idolized Joan Rivers, and while her comedy style was different than mine, I had a huge amount of respect for her. So when they announced that Kathy Griffin was taking over her job as host of Fashion Police I was skeptical. I was not a fan of Kathy Griffin for a long time, but I read her book, and, as a fellow comedian, gained a great deal of respect for her. I will admit that her biting humor is similar in tone to Joan’s, but she is not a joke writer (and she would admit that), and she has little-to-no fashion background. I was still willing to give the show a chance. I watched the first episode with Kathy on Monday night… it was the Golden Globes red carpet episode. I’ll start with what I didn’t like…. (more…)
