There are so many things I’m thankful for this year, but one of them is definitely Independent Fashion Bloggers for there blogging advice, and there weekly Links a la Mode. I have been chosen a few times for the honor of being featured along with some amazing bloggers. This week they featured my favorite post this week… my Recipe for the Perfect Thanksgiving Outfit. I’m super proud of this post, so I’m extra honored to be chosen…. (more…)
I have been doing a variation on the same base makeup for years (if it ain’t broke, right?). I actually have very difficult skin, but I always get compliments of how naturally good my skin looks (haha, they think I naturally look this good). I will admit, I take very good care of my skin, but a good base makeup routine is key in getting a polished look. Every skin type is different, but this is how I do my base makeup…

Thanksgiving is all about food and family… so it can be easy to forget about fashion. But I have to recipe for the perfect Thanksgiving outfit so you can cook, entertain, and still look fabulous (how good you feel may depend entirely on how pleasant your family is).
1 easy and chic updo to keep your hair out of your face (and the food)… mine is just clipped under for a 30s inspired bob, but you can try my quick and easy bun tutorial (more…)
I wanted to design a Thanksgiving tablescape that was affordable, easy, and glamorous. So I did what I always do when I need inspiration: I make a date with Pinterest. After what seemed like hours of Pinning (probably because it was…. Pinterest is so distracting. “Who cares that I’m not planning a wedding… I can on Pinterest”) I found inspiration. I decided to go with a rustic glamour look because it felt very Fall, and it mixed a modern look with a vintage glamour… and that’s what ES is all about… (more…)
Last month I shared with all of you Starlets that I was getting Red Carpet Ready, and I have a 3 month plan to (hopefully) make that happen. I’m still following those goals…. (well mostly, my schedule and the weather keep getting in the way of my workouts) …but this month I’m adding to them… (more…)
Can women and women just be friends? Okay, so obviously women can be friends… we learned that from Sex and the City… but can women meet as adults and become friends… and how does one do it? These may be pretty deep thoughts for a Friday, but I went to a blogger networking event recently, and it got me thinking. I realized I was surrounded by hundreds of women… there were only about 3 guys in the area of the event. (more…)
I’ve been spending more time on YouTube lately, trying to get some ideas and learn more about how other vloggers make videos. I came across this video by a YouTuber I recently Subscribed to, essiebutton, all about Me-Time. Me-time is so important for creativity and mental health, but so many people don’t get enough of it. Here is the original video… and here is my Me-Time video….

Sometimes, in life, a path is clear… you know exactly where you are going and how to get there (well, I hear that happens to some people). For me, I’ve always struggled with what path to take. It always seems like I’m trying to fit in a mold and some parts of me don’t fit (insert obvious boob joke here). Now that I’ve been doing ES for a year, I really feel like I’m starting to find my style and voice. I’ve struggled with figuring what categories I fit into. I love vintage/retro style… but I’m not really a vintage blogger (and straight retro looks can feel costumy on me…although other bloggers can rock them hard core). I love following modern fashion trends… but I’m not super trendy. I’m still trying to find a balance on my blog (and in life) between modern and vintage. It’s not really that unusual. Everything old really is new again. I really want to focus my blog on taking retro vintage ideas and making them fresh and modern… and show everyday women that glamour is affordable and attainable in their everyday lives… (more…)
This past Saturday I attended a Boston Blogger event sponsored by Wayfair. I learned so much that day (including that I am capable of getting to Boston by 9:30 in the morning… although I may need a week to recover from that). It was my first blogger event and I really had no idea what to expect. Kate and Alison of Boston Bloggers are such nice people, and the whole Wayfair team could not have been more gracious. There were guest speakers, DIY tutorials, and SEO sessions. I will be blogging a lot more about this event in the coming weeks leading up to the holidays, but I wanted to share with you some pictures from the event. My intention was to take a bunch of Instagram pics, but unfortunately my phone died halfway though the event and my backup charger failed me as well. Luckily I had my camera with me, and I did get a few instagram shots in the first part of the day. I have to admit it was very cool to be in a place where people don’t look at you funny when you pull out a big camera and start snapping pictures… it’s actually expected. So here are some highlights of the day…. (more…)
Holiday season is quickly approaching, and that means spending more time with friends and family. Some gatherings are planned well in advance, but some end up as last minute affairs. So it’s always great this time of year to have a few quick and easy recipes for impromptu company. These spiced nuts fit the bill. The ingredients have a long shelf life so they are easy to have on hand, and they’re super easy but obviously homemade, so you guests will feel special. They have a kick but are not too spicy (you never know if your guests have a sensitive palate or not)… but you can experiment with other spices if you prefer (and any type of nuts you like as well). The 5 spice powder has a very Fall/Holiday scent so it will make your house smell fabulous as well. (more…)
