DIY Champagne Martini Cointreau Sidecar Cocktail Glass Earrings

Over the holidays Dita Von Teese did a video with Cointreau showing some easy and delicious party cocktails (you can see it here).  In the video show wore some gorgeous cocktail glass earrings (no doubt a tribute to her martini glass burlesque act).  I searched everywhere for these earrings but to no avail… so I decided to make my own.  Nothing like a little DIY project to get Starlet style on a budget.

If there is anything I’ve learned from my favorite books, The Bombshell Manual of Style, is that Bombshells love Ambrosia…. and they also love animals.  So this vegan ambrosia is perfect.  I used this recipe, but I omitted the marshmallows because I couldn’t find vegan ones in my grocery store… I didn’t miss them.  This is a great recipe to bring for a potluck, especially in the summer.

Starlet at ComiCon

This past weekend I was asked to perform my stand-up comedy set at Connecticut Comiconn.  I was excited (and so was my comic-book-geek boyfriend).  I didn’t want to dress up in character because I would be doing a comedy set as myself, but I did want to dress up.  I found this adorable, comfortable, and affordable dress at Dr Jays, and paired it with this vintage inspired purse, ballet flats (I knew there would be a lot of walking and standing so heels were out of the question), and I took this opportunity to try a fun new hairstyle…

Vintage Girl Studios Photoshoot

Nothing makes a girl feel like a Starlet more than a photoshoot.  It doesn’t really matter if the photos are to promote a new Hollywood Blockbuster or a family portrait, find a great photographer and book a session.  You can always use professional photos of yourself, so it will always be worth the investment.  I worked with Krzystyna from Vintage Girl Studios a few years ago for some pics for my comedy website, but I decided I wanted some Everyday Starlet inspired photos.  I did my own hair and makeup for the shoot, and I love the results…

Hot Dogs and Champagne with How To Marry a Millionaire

One of my all-time favorite films is How To Marry a Millionaire.  It’s Marilyn Monroe, Betty Grable, Lauren Bacall, gorgeous fashion, and hot dogs and champagne… what’s not to love?  So I decided to make a healthy hot dog with a whole grain bun, and an Applegate Turkey Hot Dog (the healthiest dog I could find)… and I added some organic ketchup.  Served with some champagne and my favorite flick, I was in Starlet heaven… now all I need is a millionaire (but my boyfriend would probably prefer I become one myself)…
