My boyfriend and I are a little obsessed with classic cocktails. He has been on a quest to perfect his Old Fashioned recipe (he has to make it just like Don Draper). Much to my surprise, I have actually started to enjoy a Crown Royal Old Fashioned… but it’s not exactly a girly drink. Enter the Champagne Cocktail. It is very similar to an Old Fashioned, but easier and much more feminine, and I am one of those two things (you better have said feminine). For special occasions you can break out the fancy champagne, but for a regular evening, sparkling wine will do the trick and will save a ton of money…. (more…)

Healthy Hot Chocolate Recipe
This time of year practically screams for Hot Chocolate, especially here in New England. I have been trying to avoid dairy and limit my chocolate intake, so I was expecting to avoid the indulgence this year. However, my cravings got the best of me, and I became determined to find a healthy version of this sinful winter drink. I found so many options, but I did a variation on this Martha Stewart recipe. If you like chocolate, but don’t like things overly sweet, this is the drink for you… and it’s super easy and can easily be made vegan….. (more…)
Christmas Tablescape: Rustic Glamour
Red is such an easy go-to color for Christmas. But red gets so much attention, not only on Christmas, but on Valentine’s Day, and the whole rest of the year. So this year, I decided to create a holiday tablescape with no red at all. I was originally going to focus on green, but as I was creating it, I realized that the green pine garland was enough… so I focused on gold metallic. I started with a basic white table cloth, and a rustic table runner. Then I ran some pine garland in the center, and added some gold mason jars from Jo Ann Fabrics, and some gold votives from Michaels (the votives were placed on top of mirrored star coasters for a real Starlet touch). Then I draped some champagne colored glitter ribbon around the whole thing (this was inspired by a tablescape from Style Me Pretty at a Boston Blogger event). The centerpiece was a little more difficult. I tried so many combos before I found one that I loved. I used a large glass (kinds looks like a brandy snifter), and I added champagne colored Christmas balls, some gold spray-painted pinecones, and some gold glitter leaves. The extra gold pinecones, where scattered around the table…. (more…)

Silver Maxi Dress Inspired By 90s Carrie Bradshaw
Maxi dresses scare me… there, I said it. I find they very often have spaghetti straps (the only kind of spaghetti I like comes with a red sauce), or they are loose and shapeless (making me look like I’ve eaten way too much spaghetti). But when I saw this silver number at Forever 21, I just couldn’t help myself. I ordered it, fully intending to be disappointed and return it… but to my surprise, it likes me… it really likes me.
For some reason it reminds me of the silver dress that Carrie Bradshaw wore in the Sex and the City episode The Monogamist, when she goes to the party with Big, then the party with Jennifer Aniston’s future fiancé, then waits for Big in the park… if you don’t know what I mean then catch up on your SATC episodes (especially the early ones from the 90s because the fashion is coming back). I paired the look with a silver belt (because I like a little more shape), and a violet clutch (I checked the episode, and Carrie wore a purple clutch), did my hair in wild Carrie curls, added some Carrie inspired makeup, grabbed a Cosmo… and Voila! Instant 90s SATC glam… perfect for Holiday parties or NYE…. (more…)
